Media Import

MicroPIM brings images into your media library as part of a product import. When you import or sync products from a connected platform, MicroPIM downloads each product’s images, stores them, links them to the product gallery, and uploads them to the CDN — all in the background.

Image import is controlled per product import and refined by your product settings.

For each imported product image, MicroPIM:

  1. Downloads the image from the source URL (images only, up to 25 MB each).
  2. Creates a media file in your library and links it to the product’s gallery.
  3. Uploads it to the CDN (Cloudflare Images, with Amazon S3 as fallback) so it serves fast and reliably.

Downloads are idempotent — re-running an import won’t create duplicate copies of an image that has already been pulled in.

Most integrations expose an Import images option on the import request (it is on by default). Turn it off to import product data without pulling images — useful when you only need text and pricing, or when you plan to manage imagery separately.

Some integrations also offer a dedicated re-import for images. For example, Shopify provides an Import images action that fetches images for products you’ve already imported, in batches.

Your organization’s product settings shape how images behave across imports and the library:

SettingEffect
Require imagesWhether products are expected to have at least one image
Minimum image countThe fewest images a product should have
Maximum image countThe most images kept per product gallery (default 10)
Image optimization enabledMaster switch for on-demand optimization
Optimization outputConvert images to WebP, AVIF, or both
Optimization qualityCompression quality for optimized images (default 85)
Delete originals after optimizationWhether the source file is removed once optimized

Once images are in your library you can:

  • Edit them in edit mode — crop, rotate, add text or watermarks
  • Resize & download them in preset or custom sizes
  • Optimize them to WebP or AVIF
  • See exactly which product galleries each image belongs to
